Cartoon Saloon’s hit series to get a movie make-over

THE GOOD news just keeps coming for the world-renowned Kilkenny animation studio, Cartoon Saloon.
This time, their hugely popular pre-school series, Puffin Rock, is set to be made into a feature-length film.
The award-winning animation has received over 170 million hits on Youtube and already the story about Oona and her friends has won two Kidscreen Awards and a Royal Television Award and been nominated for an International Emmy award.
The Puffin Rock Movie will see Oona and her friends try to save their island, and a precious little egg, in a story that celebrates the magnificent natural environment and features themes of belonging, courage, and friendship.
The film will be produced across three locations – in Dog Ears studio in Derry, Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny and China Nebula Studio in Tianjin, China. The movie is due for release in the Spring of 2021.
