COVID-19 UPDATE: A further nine pass away as Northern Ireland records no new deaths

A further nine people lost their lives from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.

It comes a day after zero deaths were recorded for the first time since March.

The total death toll here is now 1,615 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 24,735 after another 37 were diagnosed.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland has recorded no coronavirus linked deaths for the first time in more than 10 weeks.

The first coronavirus fatality in Northern Ireland was reported on 18 March and the death toll is currently 514.
