€600,000 funding to retrofit 22 social homes in Kilkenny

More than €600,000 has been allocated to retrofit social housing in county Kilkenny.

The money has been awarded as part of the €45 million Energy Efficiency Retrofitting Programme for Social Housing scheme announced by the Department for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The €601,706 programme will upgrade 22 social housing units in the county to meet modern building health and safety standards.

Kilkenny TD John Paul Phelan said: “The works to be completed will not only save energy and help reduce our carbon emissions but they will greatly improve the quality of life for the 22 families living in these homes.

“Many older homes are poorly ventilated and are hard to heat. This will be a great boost to the health and the wellbeing of these families,” Deputy Phelan (pictured below) added.
