Summer date confirmed for popular local folk festival featuring Kilkenny artists
A local folk and art festival which features many of Kilkenny’s leading musicians and artists will go ahead this summer.
The Clancy Brothers Music and Art Festival in Carrick-on-Suir will return this year from Wednesday, July 21 to Sunday, July 25, with an exciting, hybrid mix of live and online events.
Now in its 14th year, the Clancy Brothers Festival has moved from its traditional June Bank Holiday weekend slot to the July dates in an effort to create something special for people in the area as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.
Launching the festival and confirming the new dates, Clancy Brothers Festival chairperson, Jim Butler, a nephew of the famous folk group, said: “Holding the festival later in the year will enable a more diverse, entertaining, and accessible festival programme in line with Covid-19 restrictions.”
This year’s Clancy Brothers Festival promises to bring an exciting mix of concerts and music sessions, drama, music competitions, workshops, heritage walks and tours, as well as the always popular Art Trail.
A full programme of events will be announced in early July and all detail can be found at www.clancybrothersfestival.com or the festival’s on Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ClancyBrothersMusicAndArtsFestival.
