Heavy showers will give way to sunny spells in Kilkenny today: Met Éireann

KILKENNY motorists have again been urged to drive with caution as a Status Yellow rainfall alert remained in place until this morning.

Torrential rain yesterday evening and heavy overnight showers made driving conditions treacherous in many parts of the county.

Met Éireann issued a yellow rainfall warning yesterday evening for Leinster and Munster, which remained in place until 6am this morning.

Temperatures dropped to as low as two degrees last night as blustery winds battered the South East, but the national forecaster predicted the gales would ease this morning.

Met Éireann said more rain is likely today in Kilkenny and throughout Leinster, but nowhere near as heavy as yesterday’s showers.

And it said the weather will brighten up this evening, “with sunny spells and just the odd shower”.

The national forecaster said: “Wednesday will start cloudy with some light rain or drizzle in places. Top temperature of 9 or 10 degrees in moderate to fresh west to north-west winds.”
