History in the re-making: public invited to view Tholsel Building’s development plans

THE public will have an opportunity to get a close-up view of the proposed development of Kilkenny’s historic Tholsel Building on High Street during two ‘open days’ over the next week.

Kilkenny County Council has confirmed it will host the open days on Saturday, January 26 from 2pm to 4pm and next Wednesday, January 30 from 7pm to 9pm, as part of the public consultation process.

Details of the proposed renovation and redevelopment of the historic town hall will be on display and members of the public will have the opportunity to tour the building.

Members of Kilkenny County Council’s design team will also attend both open days to answer any queries anyone may have about the development.

Details of the proposed development are currently available for inspection until Friday, February 15, at the following Kilkenny County Council offices:

  • Planning Dept., Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John St., Kilkenny City from 9am to 1pm & 2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.
  • Kilkenny City Engineering Office, Kilkenny County Council, Town Hall, High Street, Kilkenny from 9am to 1pm & 2pm to 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Carnegie Library, Johns Quay, Kilkenny from 10am to 8pm Tuesdays, 10am to 5pm Wednesday to  Friday, and 10am to 1:30pm Saturdays (except Bank Holiday weekends).
