Kilkenny County Council gives go ahead for 25 new social homes
A social housing development which will provide accommodation for 25 families in a Kilkenny town is ready to go to the planning stage.
The new local authority houses that are to be built at Lady’s Well in Thomastown got the go-ahead at the January meeting of Kilkenny County Council yesterday evening.
The development will consist of homes ranging from one-bed apartments to three-bed homes and will be built on a site close to the centre of the town.
General Election candidate for the Labour party and local councillor Denis Hynes welcomed the news.
“I welcome the fact that 25 new local authority houses are being built at Lady’s Well in Thomastown.
“Currently there are over 80 people on the housing list in Thomastown so this is a welcome development.
“Obviously it would have great to see more homes built and although this does not go far enough in terms of people on the housing list, it certainly is a step in the right direction,” Cllr Hynes concluded.
