Kilkenny motorists warned to expect delays as three sets of road works get underway
KILKENNY motorists have been warned to expect delays as more road works get underway in the county.
Kilkenny County Council has announced a temporary road closure on the L6707 between 8am and 1pm today.
Diversions will be put in place at Rathcash West, between the R702 Gorwan Road and L6706 at Blanchvillestown. The council said local access will be “accommodated where required”.
The council warned these works are “weather dependent” and may have to be cancelled if conditions “are not considered to be favourable”.
Meanwhile, major roads works in other parts of the county are continuing to cause delays to local motorists.
Works at the N25 Waterford to New Ross road at Glenmore Hill will continue until Friday, April 26. A traffic management system, including the closure of the climbing lane, will remain in operation and motorists are advised that delays “are to be expected”.
Meanwhile, motorists in the city are continuing to face delays along the Castlecomer Road between the junction on Ballybought Street to the MacDonagh Junction Roundabout. A ‘Stop & Go’ traffic management system will remain in operation every weekday morning from 9.30am to 4.30pm until Friday, March 22.
The works are being carried out by ESB Networks to facilitate the installation of 300 metres of new cables under the route.
