Kilkenny people urged to help hospice group during ‘very difficult time’

One of Ireland’s foremost organisations dealing with loss and mourning is asking Kilkenny people to assist them duringwhat has been a very difficult year.

The Irish Hospice Foundation, the national charity that assists those dying, and those dealing with death and bereavement, has launched an appeal called the ‘Never Forgotten Appeal’ in an effort to raise much-needed funds.

Covid-19 and continuing restrictions mean the traditional methods the IHF used to raise funds to aid those mourning has been dramatically altered. The Never Forgotten appeal will be used to support the charity’s bereavement services including the IHF Bereavement Support Line.

IHF CEO Sharon Foley said: This has been a very difficult time for families and friends of people who have died. They may have been Covid-19 related deaths or deaths from other causes.

Through Never Forgotten we want to open up a space to remember while at the same time giving people an opportunity to make a real difference to those facing the end of their lives and the many people all over Ireland preparing for the festive season without that special person,” Ms Foley added.

The Never Forgotten Appeal runs until the end of December.
