Kilkenny school to provide new special education facilities for students

A county Kilkenny primary school is looking to build an extension that would provide much needed space for children with learning difficulties.

The Board of Management of St Mary’s National School in Maudlin Court in Thomastown has applied to Kilkenny County Council for permission to build onto the existing school building.

The proposed extension comprises an additional three Special Education Training (SET) rooms r and a mainstream classroom.

The mixed-gender school currently caters for around 450 students.

A decision on the application is expected by September 17.
