LATEST: Kilkenny among 988 new cases of virus as 24 further deaths confirmed
A further 26 people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 988 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
The overall death toll as a result of the virus now stands at 4,135. There has been a total of 214,378 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 378 are in Dublin, 68 in Galway, 61 in Kildare, 47 in Limerick, 45 in Louth with the remaining 389 cases spread across all other counties, including 10 further infections in Kilkenny.
