MasterChefs to cook up a storm at Kilkenny’s FoodieFest!

Seven contestants from the hit BBC show MasterChef are joining up with a well-known Kilkenny venue and local award-winning nutrition company for a unique new food festival this summer. The talented chefs will host a series of masterclasses featuring a mouth-watering array of food types and cooking styles over the course of the two-day celebration of food for the mind, body and soul.

Aside from the culinary masterclasses in everything from Italian-style cooking, family-friendly meals and perfecting the art of the summer BBQ, food lovers will get the opportunity to attend workshops on how to grow their own produce, as well as specialised classes in Pilates, fitness and healthy nutrition treats for the kids and family. FoodieFest co-founder Laura Warren of the multi-award-winning Elite Living Nutrition will also provide her own expert insights into healthy eating planning for all the familyDr Ann-Marie Eustace Ryan

Dozens of food trucks – including street food, gourmet coffee and award-winning pastries – will be cooking up their own special creations, providing an exquisite array of culinary delights for festival goers. And the entire event will be captured by the talented Australian-based cameraman, Tony Marinceski, a veteran of several international food festivals, including the BBC’s Good Food Show.

The two-day event will take place in the spectacular surrounds of Mountain View in Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny, which hosts one of the most popular food markets in the country and is home to the award-winning restaurant, The Greenhouse. On the Saturday night, Mountain View will host ‘Dinner with the MasterChefs’ – overseen by Mountain View’s executive chef – where three Michelin-star experienced MasterChefs from the popular show will serve up a special four-course menu to guests. The evening will start with a drinks’ reception, followed by dinner and the opportunity to meet and mingle with the talented chefs.

Speaking about the unique two-day event, festival co-founder Bee O‘Grady of Mountain View, said: ‘We are delighted introduce FoodieFest, a truly unique celebration of food for the mind, body and soul.’ In line with the ethos of the festival, Bee, a palliative care nurse, said part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society.
