National Slowdown Day: Speeding motorists clocked on busy Kilkenny road

Speeding motorists were clocked over the limit on a busy Kilkenny road as part of a Garda clampdown to mark National Slowdown Day.

Since 7am this morning, gardai and GoSafe vans checked the speed of 180,239 vehicles on roads across the coutnry and detected 360 vehicles travelling over the legal speed limit.

These included two motorists travelling on the Callan Road, Kilkenny, who were caught doing speeds of 76/km/h and 79km/h in a 60km/h zone.

A Garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to drivers to increase compliance with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.”
