New Superintendent appointed to Thomastown Garda Station

Garda HQ has confirmed the appointment of a new Superintendent for Thomastown.

Superintendent Colin Furlong has already assumed command of the south Kilkenny station on transfer.

It is one a series of new senior promotions in the force were confirmed today.

A Garda spokesperson said the “allocation of Chief Superintendents and Superintendents” took effect from this Tuesday.

Of these, Chief Superintendent Colm Noonan has been assigned responsibility to the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB).

Gardai confirmed the following Superintendents have been assigned to new positions following “promotion”:
Superintendent Andrew Lacey  to Nenagh Garda District;
Superintendent Fergal Harrington to Strategic Transformation Office;
Superintendent Joseph McLaughlin to Strategic Transformation Office.

The following Superintendents have been assigned responsibility for the following areas “on transfer”:
Superintendent Ronan Kennelly to Cork City Division (Operational Policing Model);
Superintendent Edmond Golden to Cahir Garda District;
Superintendent Thelma Waters to Dublin Regional Office;
Superintendent Eamon Curley to Tullamore Garda District;
Superintendent Colin Furlong to Thomastown Garda District;
Superintendent Bláithín Moran to Kells Garda District;
Superintendent Brian O Keeffe to Dun Laoghaire Garda District.
