No new deaths but 164 new cases as dates for Leaving Cert announced
There were no new deaths from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.
The total death toll here is now 1,77y while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 28,363 after another 164 were diagnosed.
Of the cases notified today;
- 83 are men / 81 are women
- 65% are under 45 years of age
- 80 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
- 21 cases have been identified as community transmission
- 93 in Dublin, 22 in Kildare, 10 in Tipperary, 9 in Cork, 8 in Carlow, 6 in Waterford, 6 in Offaly and the remaining 10 cases are in Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Louth and Roscommon.
Meanwhile, the Leaving Cert exams will start on November 16, public health advice permitting, the Department of Education has said, with Junior Cert exams for adult learners and early school leavers beginning shortly after.
The exams will take place in the evenings and at weekends, and the Leaving Certificate exams will be written examinations only.
After the Leaving Cert was postponed in May, calculated grades were introduced and the majority of students have registered for this process with a limited number opting to sit their exams in November.
