‘Significant Covid-19 outbreak’ confirmed at Kilkenny Hospital

St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny has confirmed it is currently managing a significant Covid-19 outbreak.

The Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG) confirmed the outbreak in a statement this morning. It said a number of staff have been confirmed as close contacts and are now self-isolating for 14 days.

The outbreak has been confirmed on a number of wards in the hospital.

The IEHG said: “St Luke’s General Hospital Carlow/Kilkenny is currently managing a significant Covid 19 outbreak which has affected a number of wards.

“A number of staff who have been identified as close contacts who are now having to self isolate for the required 14 days.

“This is a fluid situation and is being managed daily by our infection prevention and control team to ensure the safety of all patients and staff in the hospital.

“We appreciate the patience shown by families as we work through these difficult months,” the statement concluded.
