WEEKEND WEATHER: Cool runnings – the days will be brighter but temperatures to tumble in Kilkenny

I think the best thing we can say about Kilkenny’s weather for the weekend is there’s no wind or wind warning in place!

After another tumultuous week of wild storms and heavy rain, we’re in for a slightly brighter but colder period in the coming days, although there will be no return to summer conditions for the foreseeable future.

Today will be cool, breezy and showery – rather cloudy to begin with scattered showers but it will tend to brighten up from the west later in the day with sunny spells developing.

Highest temperatures of just 14 to 17 degrees in fresh and gusty northerly winds, strong to near gale at coasts.

Any remaining showers will die out on tonight and long clear spells will develop with lows of 7 to 10 degrees.

We’ll see a mostly sunny start to tomorrow which will give way to a cloudier afternoon with more of a mix of cloud and sunny spells.

It will be a largely dry day though, with just isolated light showers.

Cool for the time of year with highs of just 13 to 16 degrees. Dry and clear on Saturday night with lows of 5 to 9 degrees in mainly light northwest or variable breezes.

Sunday will be largely dry with mix of cloud and sunny spells and just the odd light shower possible and rather cool again with highs of just 14 to 16 degrees.
