As we move into June, life can feel slightly out of rhythm. Some children have finished school already, others are counting down the days, exams are just around the corner, and many of us are juggling the usual day-to-day while trying to figure out where the structure went. The weather has been typically unpredictable — Mediterranean a few weeks ago, and now we’re back to the usual rain — and that shift can throw us off rhythm, making it harder to stick with routines.

It’s not always a conscious decision. A class gets missed because there’s something on at school. You plan to roll out the mat at home, but dinner runs late. A walk seems more appealing than a quiet seat or a few rounds of breath. All fair. All human. This is the real rhythm of early summer — a bit unpredictable, but full of life.

Now more than ever, a steady yoga practice can be a grounding force.

We’re not talking about perfection or pushing yourself. We’re talking about showing up. In whatever way you can.

Yoga offers us tools that are steadying, not strictly or rigidly, but in a way that reminds us we’re still here. That our breath is still available. That movement, stillness, or even simply lying on the floor for five minutes can reset the system.

If you’re someone who tends to fall in and out of practice depending on the season, you’re not alone. This is a common pattern, especially when a routine is unpredictable. But yoga doesn’t require a fixed calendar or perfect timing. What it does ask for is a bit of attention. A bit of care. And the willingness to return.

That return could look like:

  • Commit to your weekly class, even if the week has been messy.
  • Giving yourself 10 minutes in the morning — before anyone else is up — to stretch, move, or just sit.
  • Keeping a mat unrolled in a visible space so you’re more likely to step on it.
  • Choosing one grounding pose you can drop into each evening, even in your pyjamas.

Some weeks, your practice might be a full 60-minute class. Other weeks, it might be legs up the wall while your children are on the trampoline. Both count.

Consistency doesn’t mean doing the same thing every day. It means returning, over and over again — even in small ways.

If you’re feeling a little disconnected from your practice, June is a great time to reset. It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It just needs to start.

At the studio, we’re here to support that return — whether you’re coming once a week, once a month, or trying to find your feet again after time away. Every bit of it matters.

Upcoming: 50-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings

For those of you looking to go deeper — not just in practice but in understanding the foundations of yin yoga — we have two 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings coming up:

  • August: In-Studio
  • September: Hybrid (Online + In-Studio)

Both trainings are suitable for yoga teachers, trainees, or experienced students who want to explore yin in a meaningful and practical way.

These trainings will be led by the wonderful Orla McBride — and anyone who has had the joy of attending her classes knows the special way she brings presence, care, and depth to her teaching.

As with all of our trainings, the focus is on real-world application, supportive learning, and leaving with tools that make sense in your own body and your own life.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, get in touch.

Because in the end, practice isn’t about being better at yoga. It’s about being better at being yourself.

Namaste!

Olivia
