Councillor who contested Kilkenny and Waterford elections loses her seat

A SITTING councillor who contested the local elections in both Kilkenny and Waterford has lost her seat.

Former Sinn Féin councillor, Independent Melissa O’Neill, was knocked out of the race in the Piltown electoral area after she managed just 291 votes after the fifth count.

Ms O’Neill’s Ferrybank neighbour, Fine Gael candidate John Hayes, has also been ruled out of contention at the same stage after he polled 365 votes.
