ELECTION 2020: Count 9 – Bobby lives to fight another countdown
Just when we thought it was all over, the battle for the fifth and final seat continues after sitting TD Bobby Aylward clung with with just enough transfers to force another count.
Just 699 votes now seperate Deputy Aylward from the Green’s Malcolm Noonan after John Paul Phelan’s surplus wwas divided up.
Some 458 of Deputy Phelan’s votes went to his fellow South Kilkenny man, and slightly less (440) to Noonan.
Jennifer Murnane O’Connor’s 565 surplus will now be distributed.
Noonan now has 10,331 and Aylward 9,632. The quota of 12,274 will not now be reached for the fifth and final seat in the constituency.
The tenth count is now underway.
