Paint by numbers: Kilkenny artists get €3,000 each as part of €1m grant scheme
The Arts Council has awarded a €3,000 grant to two Kilkenny artists to help them make new and original work during the Covid-19 crisis.
The government agency for funding and developing the arts said applications from County Kilkenny artists had scored very highly.
Visual Artists Deirdre O’ Mahony and Blaise Smith were both successful.
The Arts Council said that across the whole of the country it was encouraged by both the quality of the applications, and the fact that almost two thirds of the successful artists had never before been funded by the Arts Council.
The €1m scheme is one of a suite of measures being introduced by the Arts Council to help support artists and arts organisations through the Covid-19 crisis.
