LATEST: 284 new cases of virus as record week for vaccinations confirmed
A further 284 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening, a decrease of 37 on yesterday’s figures.
The Department of Health reported 53 people are being treated for the virus in hospitals, the same as yesterday’s total.
13 people are now being treated in Intensive Care Units, two less than yesterday’s figure.
More than 340,000 people were vaccinated in Ireland last week, the most of any week so far, the HSE confirmed. They expect more than 300,000 will be vaccinated this week also.
However, the department warned the number of cases may change due to future data validation amid the disruption caused by the cyber attack on the HSE’s system.
